This has been an amazing reading month for my daughter! This is the month we really noticed her showing a preference in what books she likes and she gets SO excited to read them. It has been adorable to watch. There are so many lists out there, but I thought it would be more fun to show you which books an 11-month old would put on her top reads list!

Dear Zoo
by Rod Campbell
An adorable book about the zoo sending different animals for you to have as a pet. It’s a lift the flap book. My daughter absolutely loves lifting the flaps and when we make the animal sounds. Sometimes we have Alexa make the animal noises too!

Meet the Divasaurs
by Christie Hainsby
This rhyming book has adorable colors and images. All about fancy dinosaurs aka “divasaurs.” There are different textures on each page which are a big hit!

Bear Has A Belly
by Jane Whittingham
I found this book in library display of all books on the Texas 2×2 List. Technically these books are recommended for children ages 2 years to 2nd grade, but this book is a huge hit. We read it at least ten times a day. The real photographs, thick pages and naming of body parts really appeal to young kids!

Goodnight Maine
by Goodnight Our World
Goodnight Maine is part of the Goodnight Our World Series. There are over 200 books celebrating special places and subjects. This particular book starts off saying good morning to the Maine fishermen and ends saying goodnight to the lighthouse. It’s a perfect naptime/bedtime book too!

Sheep in a Jeep
by Nancy Shaw
A short and sweet rhyming book all about some sheep who take a ride in a jeep. Follow along as they drive, push their jeep out of mud and then crash! The pictures are adorable and the short rhyming phrases are a big hit.

Baby Talk
by Margaret Mills
With only 4 pages, this book is easily read again and again. The baby photographs and one word text on each page make it a super short read. This one is an easy favorite. We’re currently borrowing it from the library, but I think we’ll have to purchase it soon. My daughter constantly reaches for it! There are more books like it in the Look Baby Books series.

Little Blue Truck
by Alice Shertle
Would you believe me if I told you I’ve had this one memorized for months? This book was a gift and I honestly didn’t understand the hype. Until now. We need a new copy because our binding is broken from all the times we’ve read it. It’s an adorable story about a friendly truck who helps a grumpy dump truck learn the meaning of friendship and kindness. Little Blue Truck is assisted by farm animals – so there’s lot’s of fun noises with this one!

Peek a Who
by Nina Laden
Another short and sweet book! This month especially she has loved flipping the pages herself a trying to make some of the noises. The mirror at the end has always been a big hit. We have two copies, one for our house and one for grandma’s so we’re never without it! I also love how tiny it is, super easy to throw in a diaper bag for some on the go entertainment.

You’re My Little Sunshine
by You’re My Little Series
This book is so cute! The cut outs and raised elements on the page make it fun for little hands to touch and flip the pages. A rhyming book to express the love between you and your baby. She loves when I “sprinkle her with kisses” when we read it.
Everything is Mama &
Your Baby’s First Word will be Dada
by Jimmy Fallon

Short, sweet books with the words Mama or Dada and other fun words each page. The point is to help your baby’s first words be Mama or Dada. These were great when she was little and now she just loves pointing to all the little pictures when I say the words.
This age has truly been the most fun for reading thus far! I can’t wait to see what books continue to be and become her favorites as she gets older. I hope your 11-month old loves these books as much as mine does!
